What is POP3 Email

POP3 is a term we come across very often when talking about emails. POP3 stands for 'Post Office Protocol version 3". This refers to the protocol used in receiving emails from an internet server.

If you are using any of the following email clients, Outlook express, Outlook, Netscapte mail or Eudora then you are using POP3. With POP3, the server receives all your emails and stores it in the server. You can connect to this server and download all your emails to your computer and then read it offline even when you are not connected to Internet.

But some internet websites use web servers to exchange emails. For examples the free yahoo and hotmails are web mails. In these emails, you can read your emails only from these websites. And you can also reply to emails only from these websites. However you can pay a small amount to enable POP3 in these email accounts. AOL server does not provide POP3 access.

But there are some softwares that enable accessing webmails such as yahoo without paying. E-Prompter is one such software. But it is not legal to use these software. Even if you can access the webmail using these softwares you cannot get the attachments. You can only get attachments directly from these websites.

Here Is Some m0re Info

POP3 has become the most common email client connection protocol.

Your email client talks to your email server to send it commands to login, get mail status, and send and receive email. The most common protocol used by email clients to communicate with email servers is the Post Office Protocol, first defined in RFC 918 with Version 2 published as RFC 937, and POP Version 3 published as RFC 1725.

The POP3 protocol enables any email program anywhere on the Internet to connect to any email server to perform the usual email functions, such as reading and sending, as long as they have a valid account and password.

POP3 is an open Internet standard. The common POP3 commands and responses are listed in the following table:

Command

Responses

getwelcome ()

Gets the greeting from the server.

user (username)

Login with a username. If valid username, server will respond with request for password.

pass_ (password)

Send password. If valid, server response will be two numbers, message count and mailbox size.

stat ()

Get the mailbox status. Response is two numbers, message count and mailbox size.

list ([message])

Get list of messages. An option "message" gets information on a specific message.

retr (message)

Get message number "message".

dele (message)

Delete message number "message".

rset ()

Remove all deleted message markings.

noop ()

No operation. Do nothing. Really. Needed in unusual programming situations.

quit ()

Quit. Commits all changes, unlocks the mailbox, and ends the server connection.

top (message, lines)

Gets just the first "lines" number of lines of message number "message". Useful on low bandwidth lines to get just the first part of long messages.

uidl ([message])

Gets a unique id list -- a message digest including unique ids. The option gets the unique id for the specific message "message".

You can Telnet into your email provider on port 110 and exchange POP3 commands with your server just as though you were an email application.

INCREASE AIRTEL SERVER PERFORMANCE SPEED

This trick is about how to increase the speed of airtel dsl DNS servers so that we experience increased speed in gprs and airtel broadband connections.since sometimes it tooks about 4 seconds for a query or it gets timed up due to the overload of the airtel server.

So i started using OpenDSN server - which is a free and powerful DNS service. Use following DNS server address:

Code:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Windows XP change DNS server settings
Click on Start button > Settings > Network connections
Double click on Local Area Connection or your Internet connection
Click on Properties button
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Click on Properties button and Look for Preferred DNS Server:
Setup NS1 - 208.67.222.222
Setup NS2 - 208.67.220.220

Save and close the windows. If you are using old version of windows you may need to reboot the system.

To test new setting go to Start > Run > Type cmd
Type nslookup command
Now type domain name
google.com

now you will experience a speed in the connection using dns servers.

WINDOWS XP HIDDEN APPLICATIONS

To run any of these apps go to Start > Run and type the executable name, for example: charmap

WINDOWS XP HIDDEN APPLICATIONS:

1. Character Map = charmap.exe (very useful for finding unusual characters)

2. Disk Cleanup = cleanmgr.exe

3. Clipboard Viewer = clipbrd.exe (views contents of Windows clipboard)

4. Dr Watson = drwtsn32.exe (Troubleshooting tool)

5. DirectX diagnosis = dxdiag.exe (Diagnose & test DirectX, video & sound cards)

6. Private character editor = eudcedit.exe (allows creation or modification of characters)

7. IExpress Wizard = iexpress.exe (Create self-extracting / self-installing package)

8. Mcft Synchronization Manager = mobsync.exe (appears to allow synchronization of files on the network for when working offline. Apparently undocumented).

9. Windows Media Player 5.1 = mplay32.exe (Retro version of Media Player, very basic).

10. ODBC Data Source Administrator = odbcad32.exe (something to do with databases)

11. Object Packager = packager.exe (to do with packaging objects for insertion in files, appears to have comprehensive help files).

12. System Monitor = perfmon.exe (very useful, highly configurable tool, tells you everything you ever wanted to know about any aspect of PC performance, for uber-geeks only )

13. Program Manager = progman.exe (Legacy Windows 3.x desktop shell).

14. Remote Access phone book = rasphone.exe (documentation is virtually non-existant).

15. Registry Editor = regedt32.exe [also regedit.exe] (for hacking the Windows Registry).

16. Network shared folder wizard = shrpubw.exe (creates shared folders on network).

17. File siganture verification tool = sigverif.exe

18. Volume Contro = sndvol32.exe (I've included this for those people that lose it from the System Notification area).

19. System Configuration Editor = sysedit.exe (modify System.ini & Win.ini just like in Win98! ).

20. Syskey = syskey.exe (Secures XP Account database - use with care, it's virtually undocumented but it appears to encrypt all passwords, I'm not sure of the full implications).

21. Mcft Telnet Client = telnet.exe

22. Driver Verifier Manager = verifier.exe (seems to be a utility for monitoring the actions of drivers, might be useful for people having driver problems. Undocumented).

23. Windows for Workgroups Chat = winchat.exe (appears to be an old NT utility to allow chat sessions over a LAN, help files available).

24. System configuration = msconfig.exe (can use to control starup programs)

25. gpedit.msc used to manage group policies, and permissionsr

Calculations On Command Prompt :-

The command processor CMD.EXE comes with a mini-calculator that can perform simple arithmetic on 32-bit signed integers:
C:\>set /a 2+2
4
C:\>set /a 2*(9/2)
8
C:\>set /a (2*9)/2
9
C:\>set /a "31>>2"
7

Note that we had to quote the shift operator since it would otherwise be misinterpreted as a "redirect stdout and append" operator.

For more information, type set /? at the command prompt.

information about BPO. KPO .

BPO Business process out sourcing KPO knowledge process out sourcing.WHILE OUTSOURCING is present in numerous business functions, including manufacturing, legal, financial and human resources, it is the term BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) that is largely in the news on a daily basis. India's capabilities in this area have been moving towards enhancing the nature of the work done. From mere data entry kind of work, the fosus has shifted to transaction processing. Now, there is a nascent move towards knowledge process outsourcing (KPO).

Unlike in BPO where the focus is on executing standardised routine processes, KPO involves processes that demand advanced information search, analytical, interpretation and technical skills as well as some judgment and decision making. Examples of KPO functions are intellectual property or patent research, R&D in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, data mining, database creation, and a range of analytical services such as equity research, competitive intelligence, industry reports and financial modelling. Many of these activities lend themselves to remote execution from anywhere.

Typical users of KPO services include market research and consulting firms, investment banks and financial services institutions, industry associations, media, publishing and database firms, and corporate planning departments of large Fortune 500 companies. Several global players such as McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, Reuters, IMS Health, Harris Interactive, Ipsos, Maritz, AC Nielsen, TN0S and the WPP group are already using India as a remote base.

The KPO Value Chain

Typically, the extent of offshoring is a function of the degree of e-enablement possible and the quality of the human capital required. Some activities such as paralegal and medical transcription require low quality human capital as compared to activities such as data mining and analysis, engineering design and e-learning. The latter are also highly amenable to IT enablement. Other services such as legal consulting, intellectual property research and strategic consulting require the highest level of human capital and are the least amenable to IT enablement.

A veritable gold mine

Companies in the KPO space thus need to make the transition from offering services that require low human capital quality and low IT enablement to those that require a high degree of human capital and IT enablement. The National Association of Software and Service Companies projects that the total global offshoring market opportunity by 2008 will touch $141 billion. Of this, data search, integration and management will account for $18 billion. Medical, legal content and associated services represent an opportunity of $2 billion. However, Scope e-Knowledge Center estimates that only 45-50 per cent (about $65-70 billion) of the total off-shoring opportunity is likely to be realised even by 2010. According to Scope, the global offshore BPO (non-IT) revenue in fiscal 2003 was close to $9 billion and this is expected to grow by about 35 per cent a year through 2008.

An obvious advantage of BPO is the immediate cost savings (over 30 per cent) and yet a steadfast focus on high quality standards. This also allows the in-house team (of the overseas client) to focus their expertise on more value-added work while delegating the lower-end work to more cost-effective resources. For India, it is a new job creator. It is estimated that the total number of jobs created so far as a result of outsourcing, primarily call centre operations, is about 180,000. Of these, the U.S. and the U.K. together have a share of over 86 per cent. By 2010, the share of non-call centre outsourcing is placed at 50 per cent of the total number of jobs created. One estimate places the KPO jobs alone at over a quarter of a million by then.

At the same time, companies abroad are sceptical about outsourcing high-end services for varied reasons such as data security, quality and professionalism in a remote location, political and regulatory climate.

Collaborative approach

Clearly, this is an evolutionary process and certain roadblocks that exist need to be taken care of. Companies need to adopt a collaborative approach to tackle such issues. For instance, Scope has addressed these issues by adopting a relationship-based model. In this model, concerns on quality and timeliness have been addressed by Scope through a process of pilots and phased transfer of work. Technology — hardware and software — is world class. International certifications such as ISO and BS7799 also help. Likewise, Service Level Agreements that are mutually fair have been put in place.

What helps the India case is the ready access to a large intellectual pool with expertise in areas such as research and analysis, not to mention reasonable English language skills (that need honing) and strong domain expertise.

But finally, it is the management that plays a vital role in enabling the smoot

Find the IP Address of Other Computers on Your Home Network

Find the IP Address of Other Computers on Your Home Network

In the old days, if you wanted to find the IP address of other computers on your home network, it would be a big ordeal. If you wanted to avoid doing everything the hard way, and you still wanted to know the IP address of the other computer, you would usually have to get out of your chair and directly look on the other computer. After all we are talking about finding IP address of other computers on your home network, so they must be located in your house.

Back in the days of Windows 95 and even Windows XP, you would see me running around the house grabbing the IP of the computer, just so I can remote desktop to it. This is because I could not be bothered with all the other ways when the computer was just in the next room. Now I do not even have to get out of the chair.

Now this tutorial is only for Windows Vista and Windows 7. It also may depend on which version of Windows vista you have as I have Windows Vista ultimate. At the bottom of this article I would appreciate any feedback as to whether this tutorial works on your operating system version? I am pretty sure that this feature came along with Windows Vista update that I received without noticing, however Windows 7 should come with it by default.
Why would you want to find the IP address of other computers?
The main reason I want to find the IP address of other computers is so I can remote desktop to them. This is when I am on one computer in my lounge room but actually using Remote Desktop to get to the computer in my office.
Having having the IP address of another computer on your network can allow you to share files or access files. I guess we don’t need that now days because filesharing is so much easier now.
You could definitely use this method to find the IP address of your router as well.

If you are interested, here are some more Networking Tips.
Find the IP address of other computers on your home network

1.  Open the network and sharing Center. You can do this by going to your start menu, choosing Control Panel, and then double-clicking on the network and sharing icon.

2.  You can also go to the network icon in your notification area and click on it and a box will appear with a link to the network and sharing Center. See the screen shot below.

3.  When the network and sharing Center opens find the link near the top that says see full map.

4.  Wait while the Map of your network loads. You will see other computers that are turned on and that are in your home network.

5.  To see the IP address of other computers, simply hover over the computer you are interested in.

You will not only see the IP address of other computers, but you will also see the MAC address, and other handy details.
Notes on how to find the IP address of other computers on your home network:
To see the IP address of other computers or maybe your router press on the link in the left sidebar that says view computers and devices.

Please comment below and let me know if you can find the IP address of other computers on your home network using this method?

How to Delete Your Facebook Account

How to Delete Your Facebook Account

Deleting your Facebook account might appear to be simple, but thanks to several safeguards you have to do quite a bit more than hit the delete button and say goodbye. If you want out, here's a guide to braving the arduous road ahead.

Note: This post isn't anti-Facebook. We're not trying to convince you one way or the other. If you want to delete your account—perhaps because you want out or maybe you just want to start fresh—we'll show you what you need to do to make it happen.

The deletion process is actually very easy, but it needs to be very thorough and it'll take 14 days to be official. If you're ready to say goodbye to your Facebook account, just follow these steps:
  1. Think of any and all sites that you log into using Facebook connect. That means any site that is not Facebook itself but lets you log in using the same username and password as you do for Facebook. Once you know every one of the sites on this list, go to each of them and close your accounts. If you log in to any of those sites during the cancellation period (which lasts two weeks) your account will be instantly reinstated and you'll have to start over again. You can always recreate the accounts later.
  2. Visit the Facebook Account Deletion Page. If you're asked to log in, go ahead and do so. When you see the page called "Delete My Account" with two buttons, click the one labeled "Submit."
  3. Next you will be asked "You are about to permanently delete your account. Are you sure?" If you are, enter your password and the text pictured in the image on the page. When ready, click "Okay."
  4. After you confirm, do nothing—really, do nothing. It will take 14 days for the account deletion to actually take, so if you log back into your account anytime in the next two weeks. Once the two weeks have passed without any login in any way, shape, or form, your account will be gone for good.
Also be sure to check your email after you've initiated the account deletion process. You should receive an email letting you know it has begun. Check your junk folder if you don't see it in your inbox. If you do not receive this email, it's possible the process has not begun and you'll need to try again.
If you're deleting for the purposes of creating a new account, you can still create one while waiting for the original account to disappear. In fact, this may be a good thing to do as you'll be logged into the new account and therefore have a difficult time logging into the old one.

How to remove viruses(completely) from usb

There are some common virus that can spread and infect your computer through USB drives. These viruses include ‘Ravmon‘, ‘New Folder.exe‘, ‘Orkut is banned‘ and some other common viruses. Most antivirus either do not detect these viruses or do not remove them (just quarantine them).
Steps ----
- When you connect USB with your computer, you will get a window asking you what to do. Choose ‘Cancel‘ here.
- Open command prompt by typing ‘cmd‘ in Run box (from Start > Run). In the command prompt, write ‘drive letter:‘ and press Enter (let us say your USB is E so you will write E.
- Now type ‘dir /w/a‘ and press Enter.
- This will display a list of files in your flash drive, check if these files are there or not
Autorun.inf
Ravmon.exe
New Folder.exe
svchost.exe
Heap41a Or any other exe file which may be suspicious.
- If any of the above file is there, that means USB is infected by viruses.
- Type ‘attrib -r -a -s -h *.*‘ in command prompt and press Enter. This will remove the Read Only, Archive, System and hidden file attribute from all the files.
- Now just delete the files using the command ‘del filename‘ (for example, to delete a file with name abc.exe I will use ‘del abc.exe‘).
- Your USB now does not have any suspicious file in it. To be on safe side you can now check it with any antivirus to see if it has any such file.
-------The end------
Note---- Disable the Auto-play feature of USB drives so that there are almost no chance of virus spread. Tweak UI can do it for you , download Tweak UI software and install it. Run the program and disable the Auto-run feature of USB drives.

Hide Hard Drives Partitions(C:,D:,E: etc.)

This is a great trick you can play on your friends. To disable the display
of local or networked drives when you click My Computer.
1.Go to start->run.Type regedit.Now go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurre ntVersionPoliciesExplorer
Now in the right pane create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives(it is case sensitive). Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF
(Hexadecimal) .Now restart your computer. So, now when you click on
My Computer, no drives will be shown(all gone...). To enable display of
drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item that you created.
Again restart your computer. You can now see all the drives again.
